A jacket worn by George Michael in the music video for his 1987 hit Faith has sold for £176,400 at auction.
It was among several pieces of music memorabilia being sold by Hertfordshire-based auction house Propstore, including a gold microphone used by Queen singer Freddie Mercury and one of the last autographs signed by John Lennon.
The black leather biker jacket was made by London fashion brand La Rocka and worn by Michael during the early dates of his Faith tour in 1988.
Propstore’s music specialist Mark Hochman said the jacket had been purchased by “a fan” and would remain in the UK.
It was customised by La Rocka designer Russell Tate, who was also from Hertfordshire, and features a red BSA logo on the back embellished with crystals.
Propstore said when the jackets were first sold in La Rocka’s London shop they were priced at £290.
